The reason for CrazyTrain

I started this blog for a health class; I have never blogged before... I guess we shall see where this goes. I am not a stranger to writing, but writing for others to read is a different story. Either way I am much better in detail when conversing on things that are important to me, than what I think others want me to discuss.

My experience of the Journey On relaxation exercise...

Greetings~
I found the experience of the relaxation exercise to be relaxing at first, when the chimes started up, as I do enjoy the sound of chimes. After a few minutes of the narrative, however, the narrators voice started to annoy me; I found that the directions for the exercise interfered with my ability to relax. I found myself not paying attention to the exercise, and spaced out a few times from extreme boredom. I made it halfway through the recording before turning it off, as it drove me a little batty. I would have been much happier with just the chimes blowing in the wind, than having someone explain to me how to relax; I consider total relaxation to be void of human vocalization.

  1. Crystal, Your blog just made me laugh:) I really enjoyed hearing the directions it helps me focus on what I am supposed to be doing. Luckily there are many forms of relaxation techniques because everyone does like different things. Nice to meet you and put a face with the name. Happy blogging;)

  2. First off I would like to say how much I admire the personality you have displayed in your blog presentation. You have a very unique font and background that really lets your true self shine through. I geared my blog toward a health look for the class but you seem to be very confident with yourself to allow others to see who you really are creatively. I applaud that.

After reading your post I remember the first time I listened to a relaxation melody for a class assignment and felt the same way. You want to relax and enjoy the calm, soothing music but all you can hear is someone telling you what to do. With the gentleman speaking in this technique I had to turn the volume on the highest level to actually understand what he was trying to say. I also had to listen to the information twice because the first time I was more concentrated on his voice than on relaxing. Have you ever taken a yoga class? It is pretty much the same way except you have to add movements to it. You sound like you would be more interested in Professors wellness tip of the week of outdoor integral health located on the course home page.

    1. Thank you for the feedback, I enjoyed it! I may take your advice about listening a second time, but I think adding movement, as in yoga, would be a better choice for me. I have tried yoga and actually found it to be more relaxing, lol; I think I learn more from interacting than just reading or listening.

  3. Crystal,
I enjoy your post and honesty about the exercise. I at first did not enjoy the exercise I couldn't get into it and I will thinking about turning it off. But I let it continue and by the end I feel like I was relaxing. But I could see how it could annoy you.
